Barlinek S.A. is one of the most socially responsible companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
On November 19th 2009 it made its debut on the WSE index of the most socially responsible companies. The Respect Index is a unique project by the Stock Exchange which aims to promote responsible management in public companies. Barlinek S.A. was among the 16 selected companies which made it on to the index. The company ranking was made on the basis of a survey covering both the areas of sustainable development as well as corporate governance and communication with various interest groups. The companies' social responsibility was also verified by an audit conducted by Deloitte.
The survey revealed Poland's - and Central/Eastern Europe's - first index of responsible companies, the Respect Index. The Warsaw Stock Exchange's new index was inspired by indexes such as the UK's FTSE4Good and the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
The fact that Barlinek belongs to the Respect Index is confirmation of the management standards in place in the company.
For years, the Barlinek Group has been implementing a strategy based on the principle of sustainable development and responsible business.
"A good example of the activities carried out by the company are the pro-ecological designs, the enterprise's commitment to implementing the most modern technology which allows us to decrease our impact on the natural environment, and our active cooperation with local communities wherever we own production plants," says Paweł Wrona, Chairman of the Management Board.
